Hjordis: Queen of Swords
Or sword goddess... I can't remember. I prefer Queen of Swords. I wonder if she regrets revealing her Scandinavian roots. She never reacts when I invoke the meaning of her name (pronounced Jorh-diss) so she either secretly loves it or hates it... can't tell which. Hjordis has been part of my life since I was a little boy. She studied the Bible with my Mom and my first recollection of her is sitting in the dining room with my mother discussing Bible texts. I grew up with her boys Josh and Eli and eventually Titus and have many, many great memories. She's part of the framework of my youth, from car rides in the country to talk to people about the Bible to volunteer building projects. HJ is a kook and she'll gladly cope to it. She loves animals and nature (she introduced me to rock climbing and rappelling at about 15) and is famously creative and an incredibly hard worker. I have a LOT of love and respect for this woman.
